A powerful public art project curated by Larry Ossei-Mensah in collaboration with Orange Barrel Media displayed on digital screens throughout Pittsburgh from June 18 - 30, 2021.

(Pittsburgh, PA)— Larry Ossei-Mensah, in collaboration with Orange Barrel Media (OBM), presented ‘Infinite Essence: Celestial Liberation,’ a public art project showcasing the work of Pittsburgh-based visual artist Mikael Owunna. The exhibition was displayed on digital billboards and kiosks in 11 locations throughout Pittsburgh from June 18 - 30, 2021. This exhibition also happened in tandem with celebrations of Juneteenth, an annual holiday celebrating the emancipation of African Americans from slavery, and town hall conversations about police violence and the spiritual power of African cosmologies.

"We understand the important role diverse art plays in activating the imagination and driving critical change," said Orange Barrel CEO, Pete Scantland. "Partnering with Larry Ossei-Mensah to showcase the timely work of Mikael Owunna furthers our ongoing efforts to expand the reach of powerful art into public spaces through our media platform."

In addition to the core collaboration with Orange Barrel Media, Owunna has partnered with local organizations to further amplify his message, including 1Hood Media, Bible Center Church, City of Asylum, Pittsburgh Glass Center, Pittsburgh International Airport, Silver Eye Center for Photography, and the University of Pittsburgh Center for Urban Education.  Moreover, there will be several virtual and in-person events designed to deepen the dialogue around ‘Infinite Essence’ and Owunna’s practice.
